UPDATE: 10-22-07 -- I'm not dead!

Howdy everyone,

I'm a former Texan so I can say that because 'Once a Texan, ALWAYS a Texan.' Am I right, Texas People?!

Ha. Okay, sorry--lack of sleep has made me a little goofy.

This is just a quick update to let everyone know that I'm not dead (unfortunately, right? -lame joke) nor have I forgotten Yuwie, Myspace, Xanga, Livejournal or anywhere else this update may be posted.

See, the thing is: I got a part-time job at one of the local dollar stores here. Though it's not a full-time job, it has kept me very busy and by the end of the work day I'm exhausted. BUT, tomorrow is my day off, so I'm updating everything and trying to get some more writing done.

"Vampires Don't Exist" Update: I'm a little over halfway through the rewrite. I'm still very satisfied with it and I hope you all will be, too. Because of the new job I haven't been able to work on it as much as I would like to, but I'm dedicating most of the night and all of tomorrow to VDE. I hope to get a lot finished. If not tomorrow, my next day off is Wednesday so I'll get more done then. Hopefully I'll have this revamped version finished by the end of November so you guys will have another option for X-mas presents or *insert whatever Holiday you celebrate in December*.

"Dies Irae" Update: ...Guess what! ...Still not finished -.-
My editor (I call her "Mom") is slacking off. I'm considering just taking my sisters' advice and edit it with that. I'll start the final editing/spell checking/proofing process as soon as I'm finished with the revamping of VDE (that way Mom still has some time to get her rear in gear). Then DI gets sent off to publishers. I'm going to try and find a traditional publisher for DI instead of using Lulu. However, if I get more than about 15 rejections, I'll just go ahead and use Lulu again.

So, to recap in simple terms: I'm very busy.

Love to all,
R. Vance

*Happy Dance*

"Vampires Don't Exist" is now a Best Selling Horror novel at Lulu!

This is just fantastic news, I can't even begin to describe how I first felt when I saw my book at the top of the horror best sellers, it was so amazing. I really felt like I accomplished something great (okay, so I guess I can describe a little how I felt, ha).

My second book, "Dies Irae," (the first of a fantasy trilogy) is currently in the editing and proofing process. It will hopefully be available by the end of this year or the beginning of next. I've had to push back the release date a few times (just call me Squeenix, lol) because I want it to be absolutely perfect. This story is my baby, it must be perfect before I place it in the hands of people who will just be looking for reasons to tear it apart. Ha, that thought kind of scares me. Maybe I'm a little selfish and just don't want other people reading it? Hmm, nah, that can't be it. Not to sound conceited or anything, but I'm in love with my imaginary friends. I hope other people fall in love with them as easily as I did (no, I'm not saying I'm easy :-P).

Well, kids, my allergies are trying to kill me right now, so I must end this in order to try and ease my suffering. Maybe a good nap will help.

We also need rain; if you have an abundance of it, please usher it this way (Oklahoma City)!

Take care, everyone!

Words from a Darkened Heart

I have released my first collection of poems since I'm taking FOREVER finishing "Dies Irae." It's my little way of apologizing and thanking you all for waiting so patiently, so THANK YOU!

You can download this 48 page collection for a small fee (and, remember, with downloads, you don't have to pay shipping), or order it in paperback; whatever floats your boat.

This collection also features two poems from my book, "Dies Irae" and a few others that are based off or inspired by my books, "Vampires Don't Exist" (also available from lulu.com) and "Dementia" (no release date yet).

So, for order information, click the picture below and enjoy!

Description:

A collection of mostly dark poems, conceived in the mind of the author of "Vampires Don't Exist."
This book holds several different genres, including: Paranormal, fantasy, horror, love and heartbreak, which means there's something for everyone in this collection.
Not every poem has a rhyme pattern; some are free verse, though still deep and weave a web of emotional connection with the reader.
If you're a lover of poetry, this collection is probably for you. If you hold an interest in the macabre, this collection is definitely for you.

Thanks for taking the time to read!
R. Vance

p.s. To keep updated with the latest news on "Dies Irae", please, send me a friend request at myspace.com.

Harry Potter, Eclipse, and Visiting Family

I was in Kansas over the weekend. It was a last minute decision; the family and I just decided it was time we go visit Grandma for a few days.

But now I'm back.

For the last week I've been avoiding the internet, except for myspace and my email, because the new (and final) Harry Potter book was released and I didn't want to accidentally read a spoiler. I bought my copy at midnight, dressed up and everything, and was out of the store by midnight thirty (he he). I won't reveal any spoilers here in case there are some who still haven't read it, but I finally finished my copy a few days ago. Overall, I definitely wasn't disappointed, but I can't say I didn't get upset about a few of the characters that died.

But, I will say this: I was totally right about Snape. None of you reading know what I thought about Snape, so I figure that's okay to say.

The epilogue was kind of cheesy and corny, but epilogues involving new characters sometimes are; they're kind of hard to write.

Overall, the book is great, a 10. And they better NOT mess up the movie! Lol. I hope Columbus directs the final movie. I doubt he will, but that is my wish.

My collection of poems will be released soon. I'm still working on the cover art. I'm not good at drawing and painting so I have to rely on the camera. We'll see how well I do…it gets old taking pictures of flowers all the time.

I just killed off one of my main characters in the book I'm working on. I've re-written that scene so many times, but each time I do, I get a little teary.

Not long until "Eclipse" is out. I can't wait. For some reason, Stephenie Meyer has drawn me in with the first two books, "Twilight" and "New Moon." Though, I have to admit, some of that is a bit cheesy, too, hehe. But I am a girl, so I guess it works :-)

Everyone, take care,

R. Vance

This Crazy Weather

It's hot and humid, today, folks. Oklahoma City in the summertime is unpredictable and, at times, unbearable. But it's also a pretty cool place to live. There are a lot of stories of hauntings here in the Sooner State. I'm going to be researching those stories soon because the paranormal is a little obsession of mine.

My sister is hard at work, getting that book cover ready for me. I think it's going to look pretty sweet. In the "cool" sense, not the "sweet, puppies and kitties" sense. So, the poem collection will be ready by the end of this month.

Short but sweet, let's keep it that way.

R. Vance

As always, my book is available from LuLu.com.

Book of Poems

Hello all!

I just finished editing my poetry book last night and adding the final information to the last pages. All that needs to be done is the cover art, which my sister kerahatespenguins is working on. My poems are categorized under several different topics, including Dark Fantasy and Paranormal, Horror, Love and Heartbreak, and much more. Included with the poems are little blurbs typed underneath the categories.

This book will be available by the end of the month (July, 2007) by Lulu.com.
